Wine Consumer

The only official wine consumer network on the web.

During the last years there have been some innovation in the making of Port Wine. Struggling to find new consumers, Port Wine producers are now proposing new versions and some new cocktails to drink this very old fortified wine. And this is coming from centennial producer. At the beginning of 2008 Croft launched the first Pink Port ever, and some months after was Real Companhia Velha to release a Dry White Port specially market for a cocktail, something like the Brazilian caipirinha, to drink with lime, sugar and some strawberry, pineapple or lemon juice. Check here for more information http://www.croftpink.com/, http://www.realcompanhiavelha.pt/i_noticias.cfm?s=6&ss=8, http://quevedoportwine.com/wine/caipiroyal-a-port-cocktail-from-a-p....

How do you see people drinking Port within 20 years? Will Port be mainly used for cocktails?

I think those tiny port wine glasses add a lot to my enjoyment. Port wine suites me as a late evening drink or with a warm dessert-especially when it's cold outside. It's always nice to have a good bottle of port stashed away. Consumers need more education on the methodology of drinking and enjoying port. If port is nothing more than a cocktail in the future that will truly be a sad thing.
