Oregon Wine Consumers
Oregon…a wonderful place to live or visit. Great things are happening here if you are a fan of good living, great wine & amazing food made by chefs committed to the best products the bounty of Oregon has to offer.
Oregon's Annual Vintage Festival

I am happily an Oregon wine consumer, but in being a bit judicious regarding my purchasing of said wines. I have made it my mission to seek out the best affordable everyday selections and the truly stunning ones for celebratory occasions. I am also a big fan of the “whole’ wine experience, sharing a picnic on a picturesque terrace with great friends touring & tasting frequently. With 136 wineries & tasting rooms in one “little” valley even the locals need tips. For those interested in my experience, I am a 14 year retired restaurant alumni with a brief stint as a corporate wine buyer resulting in a 2001 Wine Spectator award. However, these days I just consider myself a wine lover living in a wine lover’s paradise.
There is a festival for everyone here; I have attended several this summer. They always feature: wine, food, usually music, art, and sometimes specialty items like garlic, cheese, turkeys or aliens. Every budget can be accommodated as well, from IPNC the pinnacle in wine festivals as far as I am concerned, to several fun & free wine events hosted by the McMinnville Downtown association. But for those of you who are not into crowds there are plenty of hidden gems.
Upcoming I will post a weekly report regarding three wineries in a particular AVA, (or growing area) along with photos & recommendations regarding nearby dining or lodging. I hope to supplement with information regarding special events, wine sales, festivals or the like.

But most importantly, I love talking about wine in a way that is understood by all no matter how vast or limited your experience.
Cheers.
